Rangers target Bongani Khumalo's hopes of a move to Rangers have been rocked by the news today that he has suffered an injury to his ankle ligaments that could keep him out of a number of weeks and that his manager knows nothing about any move.
The intelligent and tough tackling central defender has pulled out of the South African international team for their game against Ghana on August 11th.
Manager of Sunsport United Gavin Hunt has stated that he will not take any risks with his clubs prize asset and that he doesn't have any knowledge of any potential transfer to Rangers or a trial with Premiership club Tottenham Hotspur.
"As the club's coach, I am the last to know about player movements. It is not an ideal situation reading in the newspapers where my players are intending to play in the coming season.
Lamenting over being in the dark over any potential transfer, Hunt conceded that agents are dictating what is happening with with his player whilst remaining firm that he will continue with his plans for the forthcoming South African club season.
"The game is now all about agents, but at this stage, Bongani is still contracted to us. I need to get Khumalo fit for the Premiership season, which kicks off at the end of August when we play Wits."
"I hope to have him ready for that match (at Milpark on August 28), but there is no chance that he will travel with our squad to Rabat or be fit to play for Bafana against Ghana."
