Walter Smith today confirmed that the only first team player he doesn't have to chose from for Wednesday's tie with Motherwell is the featherweight DaMarcus Beasley, who he hopes will be back at the weekend.
With the a large majority of the squad either nursing a niggle, returning from injury or being a little leggy from a long season already Walter Smith was cautious over the state of the Fir Park pitch for tomorrow nights match.
When drawn on the situation in an interview today, Smith was quoted as saying that he would consider tweaking his tactics and potentially his team in order to cope with one of the worst pitches in the professional game.
"I've only seen it on TV and it doesn't look too good. They've had a problem with their pitch for the last few years so it will be tough to go and play there.
"But it's the same for both sides and I don't think it will be easy for a Motherwell side to play there either although they've obviously gained a bit of experience on it.
"That's maybe a slight advantage for them but from our own point of view we'll go there and if we have to change we'll do that."
